Judiciary announces tougher festive season road safety checks

The Judiciary in Kenya has unveiled stricter festive season road safety measures, including more roadblocks, inspections and public awareness campaigns, to curb speeding, drink driving and reduce crashes and congestion.

The Judiciary has announced comprehensive measures to improve road safety in Kenya and ensure the smooth movement of people and goods during the festive season.

Road users are being urged to strictly adhere to traffic rules to reduce congestion, injuries, and preventable deaths.

Motorists have been warned against speeding, drink driving, and reckless overtaking.

Authorities plan to increase roadblocks and inspections, focusing particularly on vehicle and motorbike rider compliance. Coordination among multiple agencies has also been strengthened to ensure effective traffic enforcement and the administration of justice.

In addition, the Judiciary has intensified public awareness campaigns and road safety education for motorists, pedestrians, and passengers, encouraging responsible behaviour during this high-risk period.
